July 10 2014

It has been a strange and sad two weeks.

On the same day two weeks ago today one young friend died. A 24 year old man I had known since the day he was born. Of an accidental self inflicted gun shot.

I've been good friends with his folks for 37 years.

They have been devastated but actually found some consolation when the official ruling was accidental gun shot and not suicide.

The other was 31 and my boss until a few weeks ago.

Gave away everything he had. Never told his family he had quit his job. Closed out all his accounts paid his bills off.

Left a note.

And walked away from home.

It is believed we at work were the last to see/speak to him before he disappeared.

As though he stopped in that very day to say goodbye.

His family is hopeful...

But it's telling they are searching the mountains lakes and wooded areas around here...

...if they really believed he left just to start over somewhere else.

There's no one in town I know
You gave us some place to go.
I never said thank you for that.
I thought I might get one more chance.
What would you think of me now,
so lucky, so strong, so proud?
I never said thank you for that,
now I'll never have a chance.
May angels lead you in.
Hear you me my friends.
On sleepless roads the sleepless go.
May angels lead you in.
So what would you think of me now,
so lucky, so strong, so proud?
I never said thank you for that,
now I'll never have a chance.
May angels lead you in.
Hear you me my friends.
On sleepless roads the sleepless go.
May angels lead you in.
May angels lead you in.
May angels lead you in.
And if you were with me tonight,
I'd sing to you just one more time.
A song for a heart so big,
god wouldn't let it live.
May angels lead you in.
Hear you me my friends.
On sleepless roads the sleepless go.
May angels lead you in.
May angels lead you in.
Hear you me my friends.
On sleepless roads the sleepless go.
May angels lead you in.
May angels lead you in.

I wonder how often something like this is happening in certain parts of the United States. So many see no good future for themselves.
